Last week, Apple released the first iOS 13.4 beta with fun and useful new features, such as new Memoji, an upgrade Mail toolbar, and the ability to control your NFC-compatible car via CarKey. To add to that, Apple just released iOS 13.4 developer beta 2, but does the update have any more new changes to be excited about?

What could Apple be planning here? Are we going to see some revolutionary new features for the iPhone? Will we see mostly bug fixes and security patches? It's time to find out, as Apple just released the first developer beta for iOS 13.4.

While some of us thought Apple might pass on a new beta update in favor of an official release, it appears iOS 13.3.1 is here to stay in beta testing. This time, it didn't take four weeks to get here. The third public beta for 13.3.1 is now available, eight days after the release of public beta 2.

The great iOS beta hiatus is over. After 28 days of waiting, Apple finally seeded the second developer beta for iOS 13.3.1 Tuesday, Jan. 14. Lucky for us public beta testers, we didn't need to wait long to get our version of the beta, as Apple just released 13.3.1 public beta 2.

Yesterday, Dec. 17, Apple released the first developer beta for iOS 13.3.1. The update marked the first new beta in almost a month since iOS 13.3'sfourth beta dropped on Nov. 20. Now, one day later, Apple has pushed out iOS 13.3.1 public beta 1 to everyone who wants to try out new features first.

We spent four beta updates with iOS 13.3. In that time, we saw fun new features like Communications Limits in Screen Time, an off switch for Memoji stickers in the Emoji keyboard, and new mouse options, among other things. Once Apple made 13.3 available to the public, it was only a matter of time before it began beta testing new software. That software is iOS 13.3.1, and that testing starts today.

Just two days ago, on Nov. 18, Apple released iOS 13.2.3 to the general public, which included stability updates for bugs affecting iOS 13.2 and earlier. Today's update isn't for the general public, however. Instead, Apple just pushed out iOS 13.3 developer beta 3 for software testers.

We're finally back in the swing of things. For the first 26 days after the release of iOS 13.2, which introduced 22 new features and changes to the iOS 13 era, there wasn't a new beta. Then, Apple released iOS 13.3 developer beta 1, and now we seem to be back on schedule, as Apple just released 13.3 beta 2 to developers.

Apple seeded public testers the second beta for iOS 13.3 eight days ago. That update mainly added stability patches to iOS as a whole, as did the public releases of iOS 13.2.2 and iOS 13.2.3. Now, following the release of iOS 13.3 developer beta 3 earlier today, Apple seeded the same beta to public testers.

Apple's upcoming iPhone update, iOS 13.3, doesn't add as many new features as iOS 13.1 or 13.2, but there's one under-the-radar change you'll love if you use Apple News on a daily basis.

Another day, another beta, right? Well, that's not always the case. Apple can be pretty inconsistent when it comes to beta releases. In the past, a beta release once every two weeks was pretty much guaranteed. Nowadays, these updates can come at any time. Consider today's release, iOS 13.2 developer beta 4, which comes one week after the release of dev beta 3.

When you sign up to be a public tester for Apple's iOS, you get early access to features most users won't see for months. But you aren't the first — developers get priority when it comes to beta releases, made clear when they received 13.2 beta 3 while public testers were still on beta 2. Well, we public testers finally caught up, after Apple released iOS 13.2 public beta 3 Wednesday, Oct. 16.

We public testers are in luck. Today, Apple released the second developer beta for iOS 13.2. As is the case with most beta releases, developers get theirs first, while public testers are left waiting. Will we get our update the same day, or will we need to wait? It's a strange time for us iOS beta testers. While Apple prepares for the general release of iOS 13 on Thursday, it's also beta testing that software's successor, iOS 13.1. An iPhone updated to iOS 13 on Sept. 19 will only have 11 days before seeing 13.1 in its Software Update page on Sept. 30. New options for toggling Dark Mode, a way to hide website previews when peeking links, plus UI changes made for a significant iOS 13 upgrade. We're hoping Apple continues this trend of fun and excitement with the release of iOS 13 dev beta 7.

Life's pretty good for iOS public testers — we get to check out new iPhone features months before the general public even knows they exist. That said, we aren't first to the party. Developers get priority during beta testing, as evidenced by yesterday's iOS 13 dev beta 6 release. It's not all bad though since Apple just released the public version of that software, public beta 5, this afternoon.

Apple just seeded the fourth public beta for iOS 13 to software testers today, Tuesday, July 30. AppleSeed participants saw this beta one day early, alongside the release of developer beta 5. Now, developer and public testers alike are up-to-speed with the latest in iOS 13.

While iOS 13 is not ready for public beta testers just yet, Apple is still testing iOS 12.4 out, and you can install that right now on your iPhone. The latest version, iOS 12.4 public beta 4, was released June 12, a day after its developer version.

The first developer beta for iOS 13 is available to install on iPhone models, but the process for doing so may be a bumpy ride. Apple has not included configuration profiles for the developer beta yet, and many developers are having issues installing iOS 13 even with macOS 10.15 Catalina installed. Plus, since this is the first beta, there are a lot of problems with old and new features to work the kinks out of.

With the iOS 13 beta right around the corner, Apple is churning out the betas for iOS 12.4 with developer beta 3 out today, May 28. It's the third beta in just 14 days and just eight days after developer beta 2 and public beta 2. The third beta may only house improvements overall, as iOS 12.4 is pretty bare bones as is, despite some hints at Apple Card support.

Apple just released the second iOS 12.4 developer beta today, May 20, five days after the release of the first developer beta for iOS 12.4 and one week after the public release of iOS 12.3. In general, the iOS 12.4 update will support Apple Card, Apple's upcoming credit card due out this summer.
