Checkra1n is by far the best way to jailbreak A7- through A11-powered iPhones on iOS 13 and later, but it's not without its downsides. Besides the lack of Windows support, the tool limits your choices to Cydia alone. With a little elbow grease, however, you can easily replace the app with Sileo for a more streamlined jailbreak experience.
As great as Cydia is for customizing an iPhone, it's starting to show its age. For instance, you need to perform essential updates to the app right off the bat for it to function normally. In comparison, Sileo has a more modern look and feel, features native Dark Mode support, includes the ability to install multiple tweaks at once, and more.
Thankfully, the Sileo team has released a package manager that replaces Cydia on Checkra1n-based jailbroken devices running an iOS 13 version. The process is relatively straightforward, though, there are some essential things you need to consider before you pull the trigger.
Installing Sileo completely replaces Cydia and all its associated files on your iPhone. That means, if you want to go back to using Cydia, you'll need to restore your device to factory settings and jailbreak it all over again. However, any mods you've installed before installing Sileo will still fully work. And rebooting your iPhone and Checkra1n exploit also re-enables Sileo and all your tweaks in full.
Step 1: Add the Sileo Repo
In the Cydia app, tap on the "Sources" tab at the bottom, then hit "Edit" in the upper right of the following page. Afterward, tap on "Add" on the top left, input https://repo.getsileo.app in the empty field on the pop-up, and hit "Add Source." Sileo's repo will add itself automatically, so sit back and wait a moment for the process to complete, then touch "Return to Cydia" when it's done to wrap up.
Step 2: Install the Sileo App
Once you've installed the repo for Sileo, you'll now need to install the app itself. Hit the "Changes" tab at the bottom and select the "Sileo Prep (checkra1n)" package. Next, tap on "Install" on the upper right, then select "Confirm" on the following page to proceed with the installation.
Step 3: Upgrade Sileo's Packages
After installing "Sileo Prep (checkra1n)," a menu will appear requesting you upgrade packages that are out of date. Tap "Complete Upgrade" from the prompt, then tap "Confirm" on the following page to perform the updates. Finally, select "Restart Springboard" to complete the process. From there, you're now able to access and use Sileo for all your modding needs.
