The new iPhone 12 Pro Max is equipped with MagSafe, the iPhone 12 lineup's most talked-about feature. While Apple previously used MagSafe for its magnetic charging connectors on older MacBook models, it's given new life to it on the iPhone, and in a much better way. But can it do for you exactly?
The new iPhones are equipped with an "array of magnets" behind the rear glass, and those magnets can attach to accessories compatible with MagSafe. Even old accessories like magnetic car mounts could work. Those magnets in the iPhone 12 Pro Max also increases the device's wireless charging speeds from 7.5 to up to 15 watts with approved Qi wireless charging pads like Apple's MagSafe Charger.
Chargers and car mounts aren't the only things that can work with MagSafe. The possibilities are endless, but third-party manufacturers are now just ramping up production on their ideas, and Apple already has a few of its own MagSafe accessories out. Eventually, we could see camera lenses, bike mount systems, portable wireless power banks, and handheld stabilizers that are compatible.
But as of right now, the iPhone 12 Pro Max can connect to MagSafe-compatible cases, docking stations, car mounts, chargers, wall mounts, cold shoes, tripod mounts, and more. Check them all out below, and if you find one that's not on the list, let us know! We'll add them to the list.
Option 1: Apple MagSafe Charger
Apple's MagSafe Charger charges your iPhone wirelessly, and the magnets in the charging disk latch onto the iPhone for the perfect alignment. That means you'll never have to worry about situating your iPhone just right on a charging mat because it just snaps into place. Plus, it'll still charge other devices such as AirPods.
It also can charge more efficiently and at greater speeds, topping off at 15 watts. The most you would get before with a Qi charger without MagSafe was 7.5 watts. But the MagSafe Charger does not come with its needed USB-C power adapter. If you had an iPhone 11 Pro model before, its 18-watt adapter would work, but won't let you reach the full 15-watt charging rate. To get the fastest charging speed, you'll need to get Apple's 20-watt USB-C power adapter or an equivalent one.

- Amazon: MagSafe Charger ($39) + 20W USB-C Power Adapter ($19)
Option 2: Grovemade Wood MagSafe Dock
If you want to make the MagSafe Charger look cooler, Grovemade has a Wood MagSafe Dock in either walnut or maple. You put the MagSafe Charger in the hole, slip its cable through the protected slot, and you've got yourself a slightly elevated dock with a more natural appearance.
- Grovemade: Wood MagSafe Dock ($80)
Option 3: Apple Clear Case with MagSafe
If you want to show off all of your iPhone 12 Pro Max's color but still want a way to protect it from drops and scratches, a clear case is the way to go. And for that, Apple's Clear Case with MagSafe will do the trick.
It's thin, easy to grip, and has a scratch-resistant coating on the inside and outside. Plus, its clear polycarbonate material is flexible enough to get fully functional Side and Volume buttons, and it won't yellow like other clear cases. There's a built-in magnet that helps align your iPhone with any number of MagSafe accessories like wireless charges and wallets.
- Amazon: Apple Clear Case with MagSafe ($49)
Option 4: Apple Silicone Case with MagSafe
If you're not into clear cases, you can get a colored case that complements the colors of your iPhone 12 Pro Max. Apple also has a Silicone Case with MagSafe, and it comes in eight different colors. The shell is silicone instead of polycarbonate, and the inside has a soft microfiber lining for extra protection. Like the clear one, there's a magnet that helps align your iPhone with other MagSafe accessories.

Option 5: Apple Leather Wallet with MagSafe
Continuing on the Apple train, the company also has a new Leather Wallet with MagSafe, which can attach to the back of the iPhone 12 Pro Max or a MagSafe-compatible case that it's wearing. The strong magnets keep it in place, so you won't have to worry about losing any of your cards. In it, you can keep IDs, debit cards, credit cards, transit passes, and other cards.
The wallet is shielded so that the MagSafe magnets won't damage any cards, but you will need to detach it if you want to charge the iPhone wirelessly. The wallet itself is made of tanned, finished European leather, and it comes in four colors.

Option 6: Moment Wall Mount with MagSafe
Now that iPhones have magnets built into them, you can pretty much attach them anywhere with the right mount. Moment, the maker of add-on camera lenses and iPhone cases, is selling its Wall Mount with MagSafe accessory. It's super simple too since it's just a disk with 3M adhesive that makes it easy to stick anywhere — on a wall, desk, night table, fridge, ceiling, window, etc.
- Moment: Wall Mount with MagSafe ($19.99)
Option 7: Moment Cold Shoe Mount with MagSafe
If you're into photography and shooting videos, you'll probably want to get Moment's new Cold Shoe Mount with MagSafe. Stick it to the iPhone, and you can attach any number of iPhone-compatible accessories that can be mounted on a cold shoe. External lights, external microphones, etc. Just slide the accessory on the cold shoe and tighten it.

Option 8: Belkin BoostCharge Pro MagSafe 3-in-1 Wireless Charger
It's not out yet, but Belkin has its BoostCharge Pro MagSafe 3-in-1 Wireless Charger for any iPhone 12 model. It's a docking station that can charge your iPhone in midair at either landscape or portrait orientation, as well as an Apple Watch. Your AirPods can even charge on the station's base, which is a regular Qi charging pad. It comes in black or white, and your iPhone can max out at 15-watt charging speeds.
- Belkin: BoostCharge Pro MagSafe 3-in-1 Wireless Charger ($149.99)
Option 9: Belkin MagSafe Car Vent Mount Pro
If you have a car mount for your old iPhone, there's a good chance it's not going to work well with your new iPhone's MagSafe array. I had one where you needed to put a metal plate on the rear of the iPhone to connect to the mounts magnet, but the magnet's not strong enough or not positioned correctly to hold the iPhone 12 Pro in place. If that's you, Belkin has its MagSafe Car Vent Mount Pro.
Just place the mount on any car vent and attach your iPhone. You can switch between landscape and portrait orientation, and there are no metal plates to mess with. We're still hoping someone makes a mount that attaches to the CD slot because some vents aren't mount-friendly; we'll keep you posted if we find any.
- Belkin: MagSafe Car Vent Mount Pro ($39.99)
Option 10: Moment Car Vent Mount with MagSafe
If Belkin's car mount is too much for your wallet, Moment also makes one. Its Car Vent Mount with MagSafe isn't as fancy looking as Belkin's, but it gets the job done if you have the vents that can support it.
- Moment: Car Vent Mount with MagSafe ($29.99)
Option 11: Moment Thin Case with MagSafe
While it may first seem like Moment doesn't have any iPhone 12 Pro Max cases that work with its M-Series line of mobile lenses, it does. The Thin Case with MagSafe is made with "grippy material" (e.g., polycarbonate and Bio-Plastic TPU), comes with six-foot drop protection, and includes magnets so that it works with all of Moment's MagSafe accessories. Most importantly, it comes with a drop-in lens mount, making it easy to connect your external lenses.
- Moment: Thin Case with MagSafe - Black ($49.99)
- Moment: Thin Case with MagSafe - Indigo ($49.99)
- Moment: Thin Case with MagSafe - Mustard Yellow ($49.99)

Option 12: OtterBox Figura Series Case with MagSafe
OtterBox, a popular smartphone case maker, has its Figura Series Case with MagSafe for iPhone 12 Pro Max ready to go in four different artistic designs. The colors include Berry, Teal, Yellow, and Fuchsia. It's soft, flexible, has a comfortable grip, protects the camera and screen with raised edges, and more. Of course, there's a built-in magnet that helps align your iPhone with other MagSafe accessories.
- Apple: OtterBox Figura Series Case with MagSafe $49.95
Option 13: OtterBox Aneu Series Case with MagSafe
If OtterBox's artistic designs above were too busy for you, it also offers simpler color combinations with its slim Aneu Series Case with MagSafe. For its multi-tone colored design, Stone has an aqua band with green buttons; Pink has a maroon band with light pink buttons; Black has white buttons; Blue has a black band with yellow buttons. It also has raised bumpers to protect the screen and camera, as well as a built-in magnet that helps align your iPhone with other MagSafe accessories.
- Apple: OtterBox Aneu Series Case with MagSafe ($49.95)
Option 14: OtterBox Pro Symmetry Series+ Case with MagSafe
OtterBox doesn't stop with its cases for the iPhone 12 lineup. It also has the Pro Symmetry Series+ Case with MagSafe. It's also a slim case, coming in Black, Navy Captain Blue, Spring Snow Beige, and Tea Petal Pink.
It shines compared to the others in its antimicrobial technology that helps protect the case exterior against many common bacteria. There's also silver-based additives that block microbial growth. It also features "Drop+ Protection," which means they test the cases with three times as many drops as the military standard (MIL-STD-810G 516.6) requires. Of course, there's a built-in magnet too that helps align your iPhone with other MagSafe accessories.
- OtterBox: Pro Symmetry Series+ Case with MagSafe ($59.95)
Option 15: Moment Tripod Mounts with MagSafe
Moment has a lot of goodies on this list, and they've got even more. For those of you into photography or time-lapse videos, a tripod and/or handle comes in handy, and Moment has various MagSafe mounts for them. Tripod Mount with MagSafe works with any standard 1/4"-20 tripods or handles. Pro Tripod Mount with MagSafe is the same thing plus a cold shoe mount to attach microphones or lights. Multi-Threaded Mount with MagSafe works has three 1/4"-20 threads as well as two 3/8" threads to mount to pretty much anything.
- Moment: Tripod Mount with MagSafe ($39.99)
- Moment: Pro Tripod Mount with MagSafe ($49.99)
- Moment: Multi Threaded Mount with MagSafe ($29.99)
Option 16: PITAKA MagEZ Case
A somewhat unknown brand called Pitaka already has iPhone 12 Pro Max cases, and they're pretty interesting. The Pitaka MagEZ Case is made from 100% aramid fiber, a synthetic material typically used in aerospace and military applications. The material is thinner than the average human hair but incredibly strong and durable. With its carbon fiber texture on the outside, you'll have a strong grip on your iPhone that feels good.
Now, it's actually designed to work with its MagEZ Juice charging station, but the company says it should work with MagSafe chargers too, only you may have a harder time getting a perfect latch onto a charger. It has a metal plate in the case, but it would most benefit from a magnet to work with MagSafe. If you want to try it, let us know how it worked out for you.

- Amazon: PITAKA MagEZ Case - Black/Gray Twill ($49.99)
Option 17: Apple Leather Case with MagSafe
Apple's Leather Case with MagSafe didn't come out when the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro were released, but it's out in time for the iPhone 12 mini and 12 Pro Max. So if you prefer leather over silicone, try this one out. It also has a built-in magnet that helps align your iPhone with other MagSafe accessories, and it comes in five different colors.
- Amazon: Apple Leather Case with MagSafe - Baltic Blue ($59)
- Amazon: Apple Leather Case with MagSafe - Black ($59)
- Amazon: Apple Leather Case with MagSafe - California Poppy ($59)
- Amazon: Apple Leather Case with MagSafe - Product(Red) ($59)
- Amazon: Apple Leather Case with MagSafe - Saddle Brown ($59)
Option 18: Apple Leather Sleeve with MagSafe
One of Apple's most interesting MagSafe products came out late on Nov. 20 — the Leather Sleeve with MagSafe. The sleeve slips over the iPhone to keep it protected, and a strap that buttons at the bottom to keep the iPhone from sliding out. What's most interesting is that it uses MagSafe sensors to identify when your iPhone is inside. That way, it can reveal the clock on the front display through the cutout. There are four colors, and the sleeve is made from specially tanned and finished European leather.
- Apple: Leather Sleeve with MagSafe in Baltic Blue, Pink Citrus, Saddle Brown, or Product(Red) ($129)
Option 19: Apple MagSafe Duo Charger (Coming Later)
Apple's second most anticipated MagSafe product is its MagSafe Duo Charger. If you have an Apple Watch and AirPods, you might want to stick with Belkin's dock above, but if you just need to charge the iPhone and an Apple Watch, this one's for you. It can charge both, and it folds for easy traveling.
- Apple: MagSafe Duo Charger (coming later this year) ($129)
To get the 11-watts worth of fast charging, you'll need Apple's 20W USB-C Power Adapter. To reach up to 14 watts, you'll need its 27W USB-C Power Adapter, which might not be an actual Apple product coming soon, but higher ones like the 30W USB-C Power Adapter will work.
- Amazon: Apple 20W USB-C Power Adapter ($19)
- Amazon: 30W USB-C Power Adapter ($49)
