2017 has been a good year for Apple thus far. The new Kantar data is out, showing that from November 2016 to January 2017, the iPhone 7 has held steady as the top-selling phone in all the largest markets.
The data also shows that during this part-quarter, the iPhone market share has grown everywhere except three countries: Spain, Japan, and China.
It was not all good news for 2016's most valuable brand in the world, as they took a hard hit in China, where Android has gained an even more dramatic lead of 83.2% to 16.6 % for the iPhone. They also saw percentage drops in Japan and Spain.
In the US market, iPhone was up 2.9 points to hit 42%, versus 56.4% shared by all Android manufacturers. Those dozens of other Android handset makers? Basically irrelevant in a US market that essentially operates under an oligarchy of Apple, Samsung, and a little bit of LG.
Abroad, the iPhone 7 is still the best selling phone in France, the UK, and Germany, with the iPhone market share remaining at a steady 22.7% overall.
