It seems Apple will keep with recent tradition — the third iOS 12.1.1 public beta released to software testers Thursday, Nov. 15, just hours after the 10 a.m. PDT (1 p.m. EDT) release of dev beta 3. Apple likes to take a short time after a developer release to ensure the beta is good enough to release as a whole, as seen with the entire iOS 12 dev beta 7 debacle.
Once public beta 3 is available, testers will immediately see that not much has changed since beta 2. In fact, beta 3 appears to be a minor update, introducing bug fixes and security patches. There aren't any new features to be found here, but, in theory, the software should be more stable than public beta 2.
To download and update your iPhone to iOS 12.1.1 public beta 3, you first need to sign up for the beta program and have a valid configuration profile. If you have iOS 12's new "Automatic Updates" enabled, you can let the software update overnight. To download the beta right now, however, launch the Settings app, select "General," then "Software Update." Tap "Download and Install," then follow the on-screen prompts.
Aside from minor changes from each beta update, iOS 12.1.1 upgrades the FaceTime UI and returns the Live Photo button after removing it in iOS 12. In addition, 12.1.1 updates News on iPad, dual-SIM iPhones can turn off the nano-SIM account, the Apple Watch app icon is updated for Series 4, VoLTE support is here for Sprint, as well as the introduction of a TLS security enhancement.
