Check your Settings, software testers — Apple released the fifth iOS 12.1 beta on Monday, Oct. 22, just seven days after seeding the fourth beta to both developers and public testers alike. While this initial update is only for developers, we expect Apple to subsequently release the public beta within hours of this post.

While iOS 12.1 as a whole offers a substantial update for users running iOS 12, beta 5 ships with little more than incremental changes. Testers should expect minor bug fixes and security patches upon installing this new update, rather than any new or exciting features.

To download and update your iPhone to iOS 12.1 dev beta 5, you first need to be a registered developer with a valid configuration profile. If you have iOS 12's new "Automatic Updates" enabled, you can let the software update overnight. To download the beta right now, however, launch the Settings app, select "General," then "Software Update." Tap "Download and Install," then follow the on-screen prompts to download and install iOS 12.1 dev beta 5.

Beta 5 might not offer new features for current testers, but as a whole, 12.1 is a great enhancement to iOS devices. Check out the full list of what's coming to iOS 12.1 down below.
