DayZ is a first-person shooter game for Windows that places you in a vast post-apocalyptic world filled with zombies and other players that are all out to get you. Famous for its realism, DayZ has garnered a cult following and influenced many subsequent games in the genre. But now, Bohemia Interactive, the brains behind DayZ, has developed a mobile-friendly version of the game for iPhone and iPad, aptly named Mini DayZ.
Mini DayZ comes with a ton features that will definitely keep you busy. With thirst and hunger always looming, you'll always have to be on the lookout for food and water to keep your character healthy. Finding and crafting weapons are a must in order to fight against zombies and hostile survivors. There's also the weather to contend with, complete with day and night cycles. All in all, Mini DayZ is one of the most thoroughly realistic 2D survival games you'll ever play.
Still technically in development—and far from a finished product—Mini DayZ was soft-launched back in February for iOS, but is only officially available in Canada, the Philippines, and the Netherlands. Fret not, however, as there are a couple ways to get Mini DayZ in any country.
Method 1: Change Your App Store Country
This is by far the easiest route to get Mini DayZ on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. Basically, you just need to create a new Apple ID for one of the countries mentioned above, then sign out of your current Apple ID on the App Store on your device, then sign back in with the new Apple ID. Then just install the game and log back into your original account. For more information, check out the following article.
Method 2: Use Cydia Impactor to Sideload the IPA
If you don't want to go the App Store route, Mini DayZ will have to be sideloaded onto your iPad, Phone, or iPod touch using Cydia Impactor. So to start, click on the link below to download the IPA installer file on your Mac or Windows PC.
If you've never used Cydia Impactor to sideload an app before, don't worry, it's incredibly straightforward to do. It's really just a matter of installing Cydia Impactor, connecting your iPhone to your computer, then dragging the IPA file into the Impactor window. But if you'd like a more complete guide, head to the link below for detailed instructions on sideloading with Cydia Impactor.
As with any sideloaded iOS app, you'll likely have to re-enable this version of Mini DayZ every 7 days, unless you have an Apple Developer account. That process is outlined at the above guide, but rest assured, you'll be able to keep your save states indefinitely if you don't delete the app first before re-sideloading.
Mini DayZ is still in its alpha stages of development, so users may experience a few bugs here and there. However, we tested Mini DayZ on an iPhone 6 and iPhone 7, both running iOS 10.2, and found no noticeable issues. How is the game working on your device? Feel free to leave a comment below and let us know about your experience with Mini DayZ.
