The iPhone 8 is just about here. If you're anything like me, you can hardly contain your excitement. Apple has been keeping its 10th-anniversary device — whether you call it the iPhone X, iPhone Edition, or iPhone 8 — as secret as possible, but this past year we've seen a waterfall of leaks. Now that all of the rumors are out of the way, we're finally going to see what's actually in store for Apple's newest iPhone.
Sept. 12 is just days away, so you're going to want to be prepared so you can watch the event without a hitch. To make sure everything runs smoothly on Tuesday, you'll need to make sure your device and browser are up to snuff — so you can share that first glimpse of the iPhone 8 with the rest of the world.
Apple's event will be hosted in the Steve Jobs Theater in their new Apple Park location in Cupertino, California, and it will start automatically at 1o a.m. local time (1 p.m. EDT). Here are Apple's official requirements to watch their stream:
Live streaming uses Apple's HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) technology. HLS requires an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with Safari on iOS 9.0 or later, a Mac with Safari on macOS v10.11 or later, or a PC with Microsoft Edge on Windows 10. Streaming via Apple TV requires an Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation) with software 6.2 or later or an Apple TV (4th generation).
So, the easiest way to watch will be on an updated Mac or iPhone running Safari, or on a Windows 10 PC using the Edge browser. Just head to the following link at the start time and you'll be all set.
The presentation is also easily accessible on Apple TVs (not the first generation, though). The most recent model has an app called "Apple Events" that can be downloaded from the App Store, which will be streaming the iPhone 8 event. For other models, an Apple Events channel should appear on your screen just before the presentation begins, so keep an eye out for that.
For Android users, things aren't so easy. You won't be able to watch the stream natively on your smartphone. Instead, you will need to download VLC for Android. When event day comes, go to the menu and tap "Stream." You can try pasting the URL above into the required spot, but using the video's actual URL instead linked below is a better bet. Once set, just press "Play," and you will be able to watch from there.

If none of the above options work for you, you could try installing an extension for Google Chrome that can trick Apple into thinking you're actually using Safari, but it's not guaranteed to work.
