How To: These Are the ONLY Ways to Get Free V-Bucks in Fortnite Battle Royale

These Are the ONLY Ways to Get Free V-Bucks in Fortnite Battle Royale

Thanks to its free-to-play strategy, many items in Fortnite Battle Royale require V-Bucks, the in-game currency. You can purchase V-Bucks with real-world money, but many would rather earn V-Bucks instead of getting nickeled and dimed by micro-transactions. While limited, there are a few ways to earn free V-Bucks in the game.

Unfortunately, with its popularity comes many malicious individuals who will sell players lies or illegal hacks to earn "free" V-Bucks. Please don't trust these, as the methods they use can result in you getting banned from the game. At the time of this writing, the methods outlined below are the only legal ways, so any other "free vbucks" offer shouldn't be trusted.

All but two methods require you to purchase the Players vs Enemies (PvE) mode, Save the World, to earn free V-Bucks. This mode is the original game that launched as an early access title on July 25, 2017, for Xbox One, PS4, Windows, and macOS. While there are multiple special editions, the standard game (and lowest price) is $39.99. Once you have purchased the game, you can earn V-Bucks using the methods below. You could also choose to wait on buying it since Epic Games has stated that Save the World will become free sometime in 2018.

We still have a lot of features to add before the PvE campaign is complete. We will launch the Save the World PvE campaign for free in 2018.

The issue for mobile users is that Save the World is currently unavailable. Therefore, the only way to use the first five methods is to access a PC (Windows or macOS), Xbox One, or PS4, and play the game there. The V-Bucks you earn will carry over, as Epic Games included cross-progression for mobile users (just make sure you sign in with the same account on both systems). However, if you don't have access, skip to Method 6.

Method 1: Daily Login

The first way to earn V-Bucks is by logging into Save the World mode each day. Each day you log in, you gain a reward which ranges from cosmetic items to V-Bucks. The first day you earn V-Bucks is day 11 (meaning your 11th-day login in Save the World mode), with the next one not until day 28. While it isn't a lot of V-Bucks, it is the easiest method to complete.

Method 2: Complete Daily Quests

After advancing in the main storyline in Save the World, you'll get access to Daily Quests. Daily Quests operate similarly to Daily Challenges in Battle Royale mode. Each day, you will receive one Daily Quest that requires you do a certain task to complete. These tasks include killing X enemies with a certain type of hero, or completing X missions by a certain type of hero.

Once completed, you will earn a minimum of 50 V-Bucks, with only 3 Daily Quests offering more than that amount. Like Daily Challenges, if you don't complete the quest that day, another will be added the next day you log in, with the max amount of three Daily Quests. Once you've received three, you'll need to complete a Daily Quest to receive a new one.

Method 3: Complete Storm Shield Missions

The third method to earn V-Bucks is to complete Storm Shield Missions. These are missions in each of the four areas that you unlock as your progress in the main storyline in Save the World. Each area has 6 Storm Shield Missions initially, with the remaining four unlocking as Side Quests (more on that in a bit) as you advance even further in the game. You earn 100 V-Bucks for all but the tenth mission, which earns you 150 V-Bucks.

Method 4: Complete Challenges & Side Quests

Side Quests are another set of quests that can be completed to earn V-Bucks. Not all Side Quests earn you V-Bucks, but those that do can earn you up to 150 V-Bucks.

Challenges are unlocked at different times during the main storyline. Challenges can be completed up to 10 times and earn you up to 50 V-Bucks per completion.

You can find both Challenges and Side Quests under the Quests tab from the main menu.

Method 5: Participate in Events

Events are separate quests which provide an abundance of items, including V-Bucks. These events tend to happen weekly and include several different quests which will earn you V-Bucks. Check for them under the Quests tab on the main screen.

Method 6: Buy a High-End V-Bucks Package

The final way to get free V-Bucks is to purchase one of the higher end V-Bucks packages. All packages except the $9.99 package will earn you free V-Bucks. While the $24.99 package doesn't offer a great reward, the $59.99 package provides you an additional $15 worth of V-Bucks. The $99.99 also includes a great deal, offering an additional $35 worth of V-Bucks with your purchase.

Please don't fall for any of the "Free V-Bucks" scams. There are several elaborate schemes online that try to trick gamers into believing that getting free V-bucks is possible. One of the latest examples is a website which claims you can earn V-bucks by sharing a link with your friends via social media. The website is well designed and links out to the official page. However, this website is fake and should be avoided.

Method 7: Preorder a Samsung Galaxy Note 9

To promote the release of Fortnite Battle Royale on Android, Samsung and Epic Games are partnering together. Anyone who preorders the Galaxy Note 9 before August 24, 2018 will have a choice — either get 15,000 free V-bucks (a $150 value) or get free AKG earbuds (a $299 value), or pay an extra $100 to get both. While the earbuds might be tempting, true Fortnite warriors will have an easy choice: 15K V-bucks for free!

Besides these methods, there is no other legit method to earn free V-Bucks. Using hacks can not only get you banned from Fortnite, you may even have to deal with some legal trouble. While these methods do require you to make a purchase, Battle Royale mode is free. So unlike other games which charge you to $60 then include micro-transactions, Fortnite Battle Royale sacrifices the first part.

With these methods, you can earn some extra V-Bucks to get new items from the Item Shop or save up for Season 4 Battle Pass. How do you feel about Fortnite's V-Bucks system? Let us know in the comment below.
